The Alestoi are a sapient species from the Serenus Galaxy of Tranquil. Little is known about them.

Physiology

Hexapods, the Alestoi have six legs, each of which ends in a prehensile manipulator. They have two small eyes and a large, viciously toothed mouth. There are two long talons on the first claws.

They have armoured bodies, based off a carapace of keratin and a thick fatty layer interspersed with bone.

They have an interesting digestive system, with two gullets. Only mashed up-flesh can be ingested, so they have several layers of teeth within their mouths, as well as large molars fixed into the jaw.

An Alestoi who is attacked can spray a large cloud of hallucinogenic ink from its abdomen, which does not affect itself or other Alestoi, but produces nightmarish visions when affecting other animals.

Diet

Alestoi are carnivorous animals, eating meat and meat supplements.

Reproduction

Alestoi have three genders- males, layers, and receptors.

The male injects his 15-chromosome sperm through his talons straight into a receptor's bloodstream. The receptor contributes another 15 chromosomes as the sperm fuses with an egg.

The eggs are then implanted into a layer, whose womb is lined with egg plates. These fuse with the eggs, holding them in place and adding another 15 chromosomes.

A single clutch usually contains 10 eggs.

Augmentation

All Alestoi studied have had technological implantations, including increased memory space and device interfaces.

Intelligence and Society

All physiological knowledge of the Alestoi comes from six specimens recovered during an assault by them on Iuventas.

We know next to nothing about their brains or society, but it is hypothesised that they have a culture based on the love of nature.

History

It is not known when the Alestoi evolved, but they have been stuck in the same level of development for millions of years.

Recently, they have begun to be more active in Vesania, travelling out to the far corners.
