Machinus is unusual due to its matter. This is all in the form of mechanical and electrical devices, such as gears, bolts, cells, diodes and resistors.
As such, the objects within are very different. There are no stars, planets are warmed and lit by the mechanisms within them, so each appears to shine. The planets are powered by their own gravity, and can grow to enormous sizes, accreting atmospheres of microscopic devices.
All are solid and made of materials such as metal, plastic, and carbon. Rare elements such as erbium are more common here.
Life exists in Machinus, in a mechanical form. Many planets hold life, usually originating as self-replicating robots on the surface.
In some areas, this has developed to a great extent. There are living worlds and enormous space-faring creatures, as well as close to the diversity expected of organic life.
Notable sapient beings include the Tantapterans.
