Solin was a planet in the Viperius Galaxy. It was the homeworld of the Deraia prior to being destroyed by a Ravager.

Characteristics

Solin was an Earth-like, terrestrial world, one of seven planets orbiting its G-class sun. All these have now been destroyed.

Size

Solin was 0.78 times Earth's radius, 0.5 times the mass and 1.06 times the density (due to the abundance of iron). This caused a surface gravity of 0.83G.

Composition

Solin's crust was 49.2% iron, 27.9% oxygen, 12.8% silicon, 8.9% magnesium, 1.0% other metals, and 0.2% other elements.

Rotation

Solin's period was 25.78 hours, and its axial tilt 20.96°.

Surface

Solin had 0.85 times Earth's land area, and its surface was 60% water. There was no surface ice, and the temperature ranged from 32°C to 43°C (though it was cooler in the past), averaging at 40°. This means it was mainly desert, with large forests in the coastal regions.

Atmosphere

Solin's atmosphere had twice Earth's pressure, and was 80% nitrogen, 18.6% oxygen, 1.1% argon and the rest other gases.

Satellites

Solin had a captured moon, one third the size of Luna and at half the distance.

Inhabitants

Solin had great biodiversity, and a sapient species arose here, the Deraia.

Settlements

There were eight cities on Deraia with over 10 million citizens, and a hundred smaller settlements (there were no villages or farms). They were supplied by automated hydroponics and pasture farms.

There were twelve space stations, each with over a hundred crew, and there was an underground city on Solin's moon with 150,000 inhabitants.

History

Solin formed 4.8 billion years BM.

Life evolved here and developed into an extremely large array of forms.

It was destroyed by the ravager Sekhar in the year 4.000(.029) AM.
