Gold Styhacian

Styhacians are advanced sapients native to Styhac in the Valka Galaxy.

Biology

Red Styhacian

They are large, eight-limbed creatures resembling dragons. They can be up to six metres long, and weigh up to one tonne.

They have four legs, which end in feet with four clawed toes, as well as a dew claw. They also have two arms, ending in five-clawed hands including an opposable thumb. They have two wings, large enough for them to be capable of powered flight. They are anchored to strong muscles that allow them to fly even when wearing armour.

They are covered in hard, sharp scales which are normally red or gold. They have a long tail, which ends in a mace-like club and can be used as a weapon.

Two pairs of horns extend backwards from the rear of the skull. They have a spiral pattern, and aren't very good weapons. The large jaws are anchored to strong muscles to give them an incredibly strong bite force, and they have sharp, but wide, teeth, which allow to slice through flesh and crush armour or bone. They have good binocular vision, and a good sense of smell and hearing.

A row of small spikes runs down the neck, all the way to the base of the tail, where they get smaller and eventually disappear altogther.

Intelligence and Psychology

They are naturally aggressive, a trait derived from their predatory past. No peaceful contact with other races has been made. As such, they always seek to improve their weapons and armour, and starships are heavily armed.

They have a strict military doctrine as their only hierarchy. They are led by an Emperor, who has around ten War Advisers. Below these are Generals, each of which commands between ten and twenty thousand troops.

Their is no sense of democracy among Styhacians, and the Emperors word is law.

Culture

Religion

Their religion is based around their own gods. They believe they were created by the God of Purity, as the only pure beings in the multiverse. As such, when exterminating other races, they believe they are cleansing the multiverse.

They often pray to the God of Death, or the God of War. They believe if you do not pray regurlarly, the God of Death will take revenge on you, most commonly by killing you. However, they have no belief in life after death.

Entertainment

The most popular form of entertainment in Styhacian culture is the Arena of Death. Captured sapients are armed, normally just with an obsidian blade, and forced to fight Styhacian warriors. These fights are always conducted without ranged weaponry, for the most action. They are commonly filmed and broadcast across a television network.

Technology

Weapons

In melee, they mainly use their natural weapons and obsidian blades. They also have a wide range of firearms to choose from.

  • Rapid-fire Pistol: This pistol has a small ammo clip holding about 75 bullets, which are fired at a rate of around five per second. It has a range of around seventy metres, and can be fired one handed. It is often used for dual-wielding.
  • Sniper Pistol: This pistol has telescopic sights, and a rifled barrel for increased accuracy. It has a small ammo clip holding around twenty bullets, and a range of about one hundred metres.
  • Blaster Shotgun: This shotgun holds thirty bullets at a time, and fires at a rate of one per second. The bullets are hollow, and loaded with explosives that go off on impact. It has a relatively short range.
  • Rifled Machine Gun: This has an ammo clip that holds around two hundred bullets, and fires at a rate of around twenty per second. It has a rifled barrel for improved accuracy.
  • Fully Automatic Machine Gun: This gun has an ammo clip that can hold one thousand two hundred bullets at once, and fires at a rate of around one hundred per second at the highest setting, but it is often much lower.
  • Dart Gun: This gun fires small darts, with a steel tip, which are laced with poison or sedative. They do not have enough power to penetrate armour, and are therefore rarely used on the battlefield. They can hold around five darts at once.
  • Sniper Rifle: The sniper rifle has laser sights, and can hold twenty-five bullets at once. It has a foldable bipod stand, and a range of around three hundred metres.

Armour

Military wear armour made of kevlar. Generals have their armour decorated with gold ornaments, to show their rank. The Emperor's armour is ornamented with diamond.

Starships

They have a few types of starships. Most have similar features other than their varying size.

  • Warship: Warships are twenty kilometres long. They have tungsten-carbide armour, laced with nanotubes, and a forcefield of superheated plasma that vapourises oncoming projectiles and scatters energy weapons within it.
  • Fighter: They are between five and eight kilometres long, with the same armour and forcefield as warships. The forcefields are weaker, however, as the smaller ships cannot generate as much plasma.
  • Cruiser: These are the transport ships. They can be up to twenty kilometres long, but smaller is not uncommon. They have the same armour and forcefield as warships, but have less weaponry. They are used for ferrying troops and supplies between planets.
  • Bomber: Bombers are up to 500m long. They are atmospheric only, and carried from planet to planet by warships. They have kevlar armour plating, but no forcefield, and only carry bombs to be dropped on the surface of the planet below.

Most ships are armed with rapid-firing mass drivers, and powerful lasers that cause explosions with equivalent yield to several hydrogen bombs. They also carry helium bombs, and can fire concentrated rays of superheated plasma.

Most ships can use Hyperdrive and also travel through the Crossverse.

SCDs

SCDs, or Styhacian Crusher Droids, are large robots used by Styhacians for ground battles, as they are larger, more durable and easier to replace than themselves. They have a humanoid shape, and stand ten metres tall. They have arms and legs, with ankle, knee, hip, wrist, elbow and shoulder joints mimiced using a series of pistons. Replacing each hand is a different weapon; one hand has a large cannon, and the other has a rapid-firing mass driver with a rotating magazine. The feet have three obsidian 'claws' each.

The chest unit is large and square. Inside is a generator which creates a repulsor field round the SCD. The head is a large, octagon shape, and has one robotic 'eye', that sees through sensors and relays the information to the robot's core.

The SCD itself is made of hardened steel, which Styhacians find simple to produce but very durable.

Interaction with other races

Katsoja

The Styhacians have been fighting a war across the galaxy with the Katsoja for many years, as the key beliefs of their religions contradict each other.

Caltans

Caltans are often caught in the crossfire between the Katsoja and Styhacians, and their homeplanet Caltas is frequently fought over. Even so, neither race has really sought to communicate with the Caltans.
