The Tarsk are a sapient species from the small satellite galaxy of Rubanon, which is in the Viperius Galaxy System.

Physiology

Physically large, the Tarsk grow up to 5m long and 3m tall. They have a characteristic 'stooping' gait, where their head hangs down and their broad shoulders are at the body apex.

They have six limbs- two armour-cased legs which are best for fast walking, two arms ending in two long finger and a thumb, and their pectoral limbs. These bear large spikes on their ends, which are used to grab prey or foes for savaging.

Tarsk vision is not good, as their eyes never managed to evolve past the compound stage. They mainly rely on two pits below their eyes which act as infrared receivers, producing a very clear picture of temperatures and emissions in the infrared spectrum.

They have long tails, mainly functioning as counter-balances for their forward-leaning body.

Diet

Tarsk are omnivorous, consuming mainly meat and nuts. They have a particular love of fatty foods.

Reproduction

Tarsk are sexual egg-layers, with the eggs being carried by the female close to her body. They are held in place by the pectoral limbs, and hugged tight to the body.

The eggs must stay here for six months before hatching. They take twenty years to reach full size, and live to 120 Earth years on average.

Intelligence and Society

Tarsk believe in getting the job done. They dedicate their considerable intelligence to helping themselves, their family, and their friends, doing whatever it takes.

The need for suspicion and comprehension of intentions has given them a high degree of empathy, lateral thinking ability, and great cunning. They like to scheme and savour their own achievements- the more complex the better. To assist in creating an aura of deviousness, they often boast of their talents and show off in front of others.

They also all train in combat (education is done within families), due to the threat of assassination or assault.

In recent decades, the divides between Tarsk families have closed somewhat, and they have produced a kind of government and military. However, there are no single leaders anywhere.

Technology

Tarsk are advanced, technologically.

Spaceships

Tarsk ships are large, grey, and heavily armed. They have multiple bridges, engines, and other such areas.

They are armoured mainly with ceramic-plated bonded carbon fibre and titanium, woven together with fibreglass and with magnetic dampeners. Their ships also carry large numbers of interceptor lasers, which are there to vaporise incoming projectiles.

Their weaponry is mainly a combination of armaments, such as nuclear missiles which also fire mines and laser-point flak guns. These are very powerful, and can destroy mountains quickly within atmospheres.

They also have lots of artillery, some radiation-based.

Infantry

Tarsk soldiers wear strengthening exoskeletons, ceramic jointed armour which can survive chemical, kinetic and thermal attacks, and multi-tools.

They carry mainly shotguns and flamethrowers.
