Primitive (Class II)

Elden are a primitive sapient species, from Kiron in the Viperius Galaxy.

Physiology

Elden are tall, about 3m high, and humanoid. They have long necks ending in triangular heads, with a mane hanging from the back of the skull. Their eyes are crystalline, and formed of six lenses each.

They have long arms and legs, ending in three fingers and a thumb.

Their mouth contains only incisors and molars.

Diet

Elden are mainly herbivorous, eating the soft ferns of their homeworld as well as the common tubers and fruits. However, they will also eat certain animals.

Intelligence and Society

Sapients, Elden have large and dense brains, about 0.8 human size.

Due to historical events, their society is completely non-hierarchical- all adults get an equal say in events. They are extremely peaceful, and due to the lack of reasons for advancement, their technology has entirely stagnated.

Groups are of between twenty and a hundred individuals, in large wooden huts surrounded by a wall. Every village has a smithy, town hall, and sports field.

Culture

Elden have a sophisticated culture, using pictorial art, music from drums and string instruments, and calligraphy. They also have a sense of humour, finding deliberate slip-ups and the antics of their offspring funny.

Language

Despite their intelligence, Elden language is quite basic. It is made from only vowels, making it sound quite strange to most observers. They have a writing system formed of curves and spirals.

History

Around thirty thousand years ago, the then aggressive Elden had an enormous war than covered their entire continent. They had a honour system where retreat meant death, and the large scale battles almost wiped their civilisation out.

As all the aggressive Elden were dead, aggression was almost entirely bred out of their society.
