Gars is a planet in the Viperius Galaxy. It is the homeworld of the Skarg race.

Characteristics

Gars is a class TGH world. It is the fourth planet from a F8-class star, orbiting at 1.44AUs.

Size

Gars has a mass equivalent to 1.4 Earth masses, and a diameter of 14,000km. This gives it a density of 5,823kgm-3, and so a surface gravity of 1.16Gs.

Composition

Gars' crust is 41.3% oxygen, 32.7% silicon, 20.3% iron, 4.6% aluminium, and the remainder other metals and elements.

Surface

46% of Gars' surface is water. The only ice is found on the peaks of the northern mountains.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere of Gars is 75.6% nitrogen, 22.4% oxygen, 1.8% argon, 0.16% neon, and the remainder other gases.

Rotation

Gars takes 25.6 hours to rotate on its axis. It has a stable axial tilt of 13.2 degrees, giving it four seasons, though they conditions do not change radically within a year.

Satellites

Gars has two large moons- one at 195,000km and the other at 410,000km. The first, Makkarg, is volcanically active due to orbital resonances, and the second (Kaegar) has a nitrogen/carbon dioxide atmosphere.

History

For millennia, the primitive Skarg were the only race here. However, recently, the Iridi visited the planet, bringing advanced technology to the Skarg. This started a great war between Skarg, which caused the destruction of many Garsian ecosystems. This war is generally referred to as the Scarring of Gars. Nowadays, most Skarg live offworld, and Gars is used primarily for mining and other resource operations.

Biosphere

Since the Scarring, the Garsian ecosystem has been greatly depleted. Only the hardiest creatures have been able to survive. Notable species include:

The continent of Montgar is the northernmost of Gars' continents. It is very large, making up 32% of the land area on Gars, and the majority of it lies within the arctic circle. There is a very large mountain range (called the Spine of Irigak) that goes along the arctic circle, with peaks reaching 7,000m high. Around this, there is much taiga.

Notable species on the Montgar continent include the:

Along the equator lie the Gth Isles, which make up about 5 percent of the land mass on Gars. There are four Isles, which are extremely close together, allowing species of all kinds to travel between them. The Isles are named after the Gth, which were the ruling Skarg tribe in this area before the Scarring. Notable species include:
