Skinner Mites are very large parasites that live on the backs of montotheres.

Appearance

Skinners resemble giant, six-legged ticks with scythe-like claws on its front limbs. Skinners have no eyes.

Diet

Skinners use their long claws to slash open montotheres, and then eat their skin. To find a good patch of skin and watch out for predators, skinners utilize a symbiotic relationship with Butcherbugs. Butcherbugs have a good sense of sight, and can warn the skinner about any nearby predators. In return, the skinner mite cuts open the montothere, so the butcherbug can feast on the soft flesh underneath.

Reproduction

Skinner mites reproduce through parthenogenesis, a type of natural cloning. To prevent genetic diseases from running rampant, each generation gains one random mutation, normally something that has no bearing on the whole animal, such as color tone or number of eyes.
