Sagax Technology

Sagax have not yet developed space travel, though they have created a wide range of technology. This lists some of their technology.

Weapons

Melee

  • Sagax Sword: Named after the species, this sword is made of hardened steel, reinforced with steel rods. The cutting edge is serrated.
  • Venom Spear: This can be either used in melee or ranged battle. When the point of the spear breaks the skin, it injects a venom taken from the Venenodon, or occasionally from the Tomus Spider.
  • Spiked Hammer: A large, cylindrical hammer. Each end is adorned with nine aluminium spikes; eight around the edge and a larger one in the centre. Sometimes, Venenodon venom is stored in the spikes, to be injected on impact.

Ranged

  • Venom Pistol: This can be held one handed, and isn't automatic. It fires a vial of toughened glass, traditionally filled with Tomus Spider venom, but others venoms have been used. It does not break when fired, but does break on impact, covering the target in venom.
  • Poacher's Sniper: It has been named so due to its large use by poachers. It has a telescopic sight, allowing extreme accuracy, and is fully automatic for maximum damage.
  • Rifle: The most common gun used. It fires small iron bullets at a rate of two per second, and is fully automatic.
  • Flame Gun: This gun is fully automatic, and fires up to five bullets a minute. The inside of the barrel is lined with small amounts of gunpowder, so bullets shoot out on fire.

Heavy Weaponry

  • Flame Cannon: Similar to a flame gun, however, each cannon must be loaded after the previous one has been fired.
  • Laser Cannon: This fires a continuous laser. It is moved around by a group of Sagax pulling ropes, which are tied to the cannon, causing it to move in certain directions. The laser can cut through almost anything.
  • Catapult: This throws specially made balls of iron, which are filled inside with explosive. When it hits the ground, the explosive is set off, killing anything within about thirty metres. It can also throw normal iron balls, or even boulders.

Bombs and Grenades

  • Iron Bomb: Used mainly for catapults; see above.
  • Venom Grenade: Launched via a slingshot, this grenade is filled with a small amount of explosive, and a larger amount of venom, which is scattered when the grenade explodes. It is traditionally filled with Tomus Spider venm, because this is most effective in the circumstances.
  • Atomic Bomb: Only one of these has ever been made. It is stored in an army safety vault beneath the main city on Centratus.
  • Grenade: Pretty much a scaled down iron bomb; see above.

Grenade Launchers

  • Slingshot: Customised in size to fit whichever grenade it is designed for. The grenade is placed on a piece of material, traditionally leather, tied to a y-shaped metal structure by two ropes. The leather is pulled back using a third piece of rope, and then released.

Armour

  • Sagax Visor Helm: Named for the 'visor' like structure that allows the antennae to stick out, this helm completely covers the face, including eyes. Sagax are completely reliable on their antennae while wearing these. Rich people sometimes customise them to have visors over the eyes, allowing sight as well.
  • Sagax Face Mask: The face is protected by a sheet of iron, meaning they are dependant on antennae again. Sometimes the rich customise it. A sheet of fabric is attached to the mask. There are two holes for the antennae. The fabric is tied together behind the head to keep the mask on.
  • Sagax Pulse Armour: This is torso armour. It is made of a minimal numbers of iron sheets for strength, and is fitted with a forcefield. This forcefield delivers a powerful electric shock when touched, and can only be activated by the owner's fingerprint. Each Sagax has his/her own suit of armour.
  • Sagax Body Armour: A duplicate of the pulse armour, but without the forcefield. It is made of hardened aluminium for extra strength, and is often used by those who cannot afford pulse armour.
  • Sagax Arm Plates: Two iron plates, one for the upper arm and one for the lower, allowing elbow movement. They are attached to the arms by leather straps.
  • Sagax Leg Plates: Similar to the arm plates, but designed to fit the legs.

Transport

Ground

  • Army Duty Truck: Possessed only by army members, it has caterpillar tracks to deal with any terrain on the planet. It is about five metres long, and can hold about ten Sagax.
  • Standard Truck: The equivalent of an earth car. It is fitted with caterpillar tracks like the army truck, but they have lower resilience. In addition, this truck is only three metres long, holding about six Sagax.
  • Suspeddissa Truck: The name's origin is unknown. It resembles an earth bicycle, but it is fitted with a single set of caterpillar tracks, which are still operated by engine. It is open to the air, and seats one Sagax. Trailers can be fitted on the back.

Sea

  • Military Boat: For army use only, this boat can reach fifty metres long. There is a small deck surrounding the main block, which is mostly cabins, for almost one hundred Sagax. It is piloted from below deck.
  • Travel Boat: These boats come in a range of sizes. They are for use of the public, and smaller ones can be hired. They generally have a large deck and small cabin near the rear, which includes stairs down below deck, which is where the main guest space is stored. There are dining rooms, games rooms and cabins. Dependant on size, they can hold five to forty Sagax.

Air

  • Prototype Plane: Sagax are still developing air travel. This plane is open-topped, and has room for two people; a pilot, and one to sit behind. It has a single pair of wings. These planes are not for public use, and are made of aluminium.
